If Dante Had Wings (Cass)

Subtly or as quietly as it could proceed an explosion happened. Almost like a dog's flatulence without the smell- an accident happened. Darting from the room an old blank puppet ran free and down the halls. Rushing from the room Dustain followed, his eyes a bit withdrawn as he ran. Grunting a bit he followed the puppet who seemed to be leading him somewhere. It danced ballet as it went up the stairs. Only pausing once when Dustain had to catch is breath.

Following it more he froze. It stopped moving before the door and he coughed. His throat ached. He then spoke up. Only a hoarse incoherent whisper came. Least he could talk a bit. His body must be tired which saved his voice. This time. Walking to the puppet he picked it up then noticed the door was open a crack. Moving he turned to it and pushed it open. Blinded by golden light he went in.

The room was gorgeous! He stared in awe and began to walk about. He dropped his puppet on the table by one of the shelves. This room... it... was like the room he once saw in a painting based on "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe. Just that one was more dark.... this one was just... astounding. He paused in the middle and looked up. Who did the ceiling?

Cassandra had a room off of the library that was her special room and not many of the students happened upon the room. In fact it did have another entrance off of a back hallway. There were a lot important books to her in this room so she did have it spelled to alert her to any presence that would happen along in here. She just didn’t want anything destroyed. Cass had been working on some papers in her office when the silent alarm went off. She decided that she better go check it out because it had been awhile since someone had found it via another door.

Walking into the room she understood why it had gone off. It seemed a new freshman had found her sweet little treasure and by the looks of things it was on accident. She watched the expressions on his face and he looked around in awe at the room. “It is rather an exciting room to look upon.” She said as she walked into the room. “It is my favorite.”

He had never been to a big library like this before. Just seeing the spectacular build of it had him in awe. Maybe they had all those stories he read growing up? The ones he read to learn about the types of plays he could help perform with his puppets. As he was in deep marvel at it all he lurched a bit and spun around. Smiling and chuckling nervously he nodded as he rubbed his neck, "Its... good." He said hoarsely. Rubbing his throat he sighed. Stupid gift. But then again he hated talking, just some times he had to, "Who?"

Cass didn't mean to startle the guy when she walked up upon him. She hoped that he would relax a little because towards the students she was not that bad; she saved the evilness for the evil doers in the world. "Oh come on, its more than good." She commented. "You have to see the up close and personal detail to really understand it." She said.

Cass moved closer to the guy with a smile, "No worries I do not bite. I am Ms. Taylor, but I really just like to be called Cassandra or Cass." She stated, and what do you mean who?"

He couldn’t really find words, it was beyond several great explanatory words. He wandered to the molding on the walls and touched it with his fingertips, feeling the detail then looked up. So much detail everywhere. It sort of exploded his brain. Stepping back he went to her and spoke, “Meant who are you… sorry my throat is hurting.” He said with a sigh, “I am Dustain {Du-stay-n}, nice to meet you Cass.” He said before looked about, “What other things are in this area, like… maybe stuff I can make to help my throat?”

Cass watched him admiring the molding that was around the library and she had to admit she loved the way everything looked around here. Everything about the library made Cass want to work in it and explore every part that she could. "I am just glad to find someone that enjoys the looks of the library as much as I do."

Cass felt a little bit bad about his throat, but was it really hurting or was it just a side effect from his shyness. "Well nice to meet you too Dustain." Cass said with a slight bow of her head. "I am sure there are lots of potions books, or just find a witch that can make you something." She smirked.

Dustain was so happy, this school was the best. It was so detailed in here too! Wait potions? Witches? He stared at her and scratched his neck, what did she mean. Those were around still? He moved and looked around, "I am not a witch, if I tried to make one it might fail like in chemistry class and explode in my face - or worse! switch my body around so I would be in my marionette and the puppet in me!" he said with a whine, "But if would be good to know a potion to help my throat..."

Cass could not help but laugh a little at Dustain and it really was not in a bad way and it was not that she was laughing at him because he must have just misunderstood him. She also thought it was funny that when he went to talk about witches he was looking around as if to see if anyone was listening. "I didn't say you were a witch." Cassie said back in a whisper, "But then you must have some type of magic if you are here, most creatures do." She admitted with a shrug.

Cass smiled, "I am a witch and I happen to have potions already made." She commented, "Unless you would like to watch me make one?" Cass asked him.

It was all so new! This place was so interesting. Yet then again he chuckled a bit nervously, "Yeah... honestly... my dad- used to think I was one then he began to abuse what I could do by making me do shows for customer at the Toy Shop." Dustain muttered a bit before blinking. She was a witch? So... witches were pretty? Books sure liked to lie.... however the question made him bounce a bit, "I'd love to watch!"

Cass listened to what he was saying about the things that his father made him do and she could understand that. The was the one thing she never understood about humans and there treatment of those who are not. Some of them seemed to treat magical being they they were a freak show. "So I take it your dad was a human and didn't understand the true meaning of your powers."

Cass was glad he seemed to lite up when she told him what she was and that he could watch her brew a potion. "Well we need to go to my lab, which is attached to my office." She smiled, "So come on and follow." She said and led the way to her office and went into the lab in the back holding the door open allowing him to take in the room.
