Born as a younger child of a Faye, Devan naturally didn't know his older sibling since sometimes it was a century or two between children. Didn't like school except to play tricks on everyone around him to where everyone within the immediate circle of the child kept a wary eye open in his presence. It was also the only time any kind of emotion appeared on his face. When not causing havoc Devan appears apathetic and very un-Faye like and very different from his brother. Disliked to concede to anyone's wishes and would frequently not attend functions or be late to them just to get reactions out of his parents.

Grew up listening to talk about his older brother Angelus; how he was constantly compared to and came up lacking to the 'wonderful' Angelus. Began to dislike his brother without having ever met him as well as the humans that he went to live with. Believes that the humans lured his brother away from his people and its their fault that things have become the way they are. That dislike grew to hatred and so when he found out that a message had to be delivered to his sister in law, Devan volunteered. While under suspicion, he assuaged that by telling them he wanted to meet his brother and perhaps find out what was so interesting in the human world to keep the couple there.

On a whim, Devan decided to join the university when he heard about it. It was to stave off boredom and also to satisfy his curiosity about what made humans the way they were. At the moment he would be all for wiping them off the face of the planet. While there he was exposed to other creatures, something he'd never before experienced while at home. He's a bit naive but learning.
