Romney was born the son of a poor waitress and some guy he's never met. He grew up poor and had very little for himself. for most of his life he and his mother lived in a small apartment that smelled of sweat and urine. His powers manifested at a very young age he was fascinated and practiced them often becoming fairly decent even before joining the academy.

Over time his relationship with his mother became somewhat strained and he ran away to the academy at age 16 where due to his considerable talent he was taken on as a student. Since then he's been a diligent but shy student not interacting with others much but doing quite well in his studies.
