Vincent was born to Elena and Jacob Rain, Jacob was a vampire, Elena was a human. His mother was married once previously to another man whom she had one child, Theresa, with. They divorced soon after she was born because he didn't want the responsibility of being a parent.

Elena and Jacob met shortly after and he became smitten with her and Theresa. He never told her he was a vampire, they wed 10 months after meeting and shortly after she became pregnant with Vincent. Elena knew this wasn't a normal pregnancy like she had with Theresa. She asked her husband about it and he came clean about being a vampire.

Elena took Theresa and left him, whether or not he's still alive or not is unknown. Elena was only pregnant a couple of months before she went into labor, after a few hours and Vince was born she barely had enough energy to name him. She died after she got to hold him, the nurses called the city and they put the children in a orphanage together.

Vincent was raised by his sister and the women that ran the orphanage. Theresa told him about being a half human half vampire and told him he could either drink blood or eat human food. He chose the latter as he didn't want to hurt people. He was at the orphanage until he was 15 and his sister adopted him when she was 18. They lived in London for most of their lives, Vince went to college, got a medical degree, and currently works at Luna Vermiculus University as the school Medic.
